Coverage for the peril of flood is excluded by homeowners and dwelling policies. Flood insurance affords coverage for damage caused by a flood to the physical structure of the dwelling; unattached appurtenant structures on the property lot; and, personal property within the dwelling.
Flood coverage is typically underwritten through the National Flood Insurance Program and has specific underwriting and eligibility guidelines.
